'BUD TO BAT' OPEN WEEKEND
8th & 9th OCTOBER 2005
As stumps were drawn on possibly the greatest Ashes series of all time, a new innings in Australian cricket commenced at Shepherds Flat. The world watched Enland regain the Ashes in an enthralling display of test cricket. Meanwhile, the former milking shed at Shepherds Flat was being transformed into 'The Cricket Gallery'.
Visitors had a great opportunity to witness the new attraction at the ‘Bud to Bat’ Open Weekend on 8th-9th October 2005. The festivities included:
Willow planting and log splitting demonstrations.
Official Opening of The Cricket Gallery.
‘Bud to Bat’ tours from nursery to factory.
School Cricket: Assumption College v. Ballarat Grammar
Cricket Victoria junior clinic and giveaways.
Twenty20 Cricket: Jabaroo Central Highlanders v. Cricket Willow Wanderers.
A big thank-you to all helpers and visitors who made the weekend a great success. Congratulations to Warwick Clough - the lucky winner of the World Cup 2003 cricket bat autographed by Adam Gilchrist.
